A tragic domestic incident has been reported in Abia State, where a woman allegedly stabbed her husband, identified as Chidebere, to death after discovering suspected infidelity on his mobile phone.
According to reports, the deceased was an officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service. The incident occurred in Umuahia following a series of disputes between the couple.
Sources said the conflict began on February 15, 2026, when the wife reportedly requested money for the treatment of their son, but the husband claimed he did not have funds available. Suspecting otherwise, she allegedly accessed his phone to verify his financial status and reportedly discovered chat messages between him and an unidentified woman.
The discovery led to an argument between the couple, but relatives who were present in the house reportedly intervened and temporarily resolved the dispute.
However, on February 16, 2026, a fresh disagreement reportedly erupted over the same issue. During the confrontation, the wife allegedly broke her husband’s phone, and in retaliation, he also broke hers. The argument reportedly escalated further until the wife allegedly picked up a pair of scissors and stabbed him.
Reports indicate that after the stabbing, the woman immediately attempted to provide first aid and, along with family members, rushed the victim to a nearby hospital. However, he was confirmed dead on arrival.
Following the incident, the suspect reportedly returned home, packed her belongings along with her children, and attempted to flee. She was later intercepted by youths in the community who allegedly attempted to attack her before she was rescued and handed over to the police.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
