Trump accuses Britain’s Prime Minister of seeking to join wars after they have won already

Donald Trump has criticized the United Kingdom’s potential military support in the ongoing conflict involving Iran, saying the United States does not require British aircraft carriers at this stage of the operation.

The remarks came as the US and Israel continue their military strikes against Iran, escalating tensions across the region.

In a post shared on Truth Social, Trump claimed the United Kingdom was considering deploying two aircraft carriers to the Middle East but suggested such assistance would come too late to be useful.

“The United Kingdom, our once great ally, is finally thinking about sending two aircraft carriers to the Middle East,” Trump wrote. “That’s fine, Prime Minister Starmer, but we don’t need them anymore. We don’t need people joining wars after we’ve already won.”

UK Military Preparedness

The comments followed confirmation from the UK Ministry of Defence that one of Britain’s aircraft carriers had been placed on high readiness amid the growing Middle East crisis.

At the same time, US bomber aircraft were reportedly seen arriving in the UK as Washington began using British bases for what officials described as “specific defensive operations.”

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump reiterated his stance when asked about the possible deployment of British carriers.

“We don’t need them,” he said, adding that the assistance might have been more useful earlier in the conflict.

“It would have been nice two weeks ago,” the president remarked.

UK Government Maintains Cautious Approach

The British government, led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, has maintained that it will not participate directly in the initial US-Israel strikes on Iran.

Starmer previously told members of Parliament that while Trump had expressed disagreement with the UK’s position, his responsibility was to act in Britain’s national interest.

The prime minister has also emphasized that the UK does not support attempts to force regime change through aerial attacks.

However, the UK later approved limited use of its bases — including RAF Fairford and Diego Garcia — for what were described as defensive US operations targeting Iranian missile threats.

According to Starmer, the decision came after Iran’s response to the strikes escalated into what he called a direct threat to British citizens, national interests, and allied nations.

Political Debate in the UK

The situation has sparked political debate within the UK. Opposition figures argue the government should take a clearer stance in the conflict.

Kemi Badenoch criticized Starmer during the Conservative Spring Conference, accusing the prime minister of avoiding decisive action.

Badenoch argued that Britain is already involved in the conflict regardless of whether the government formally acknowledges it.

Meanwhile, Starmer urged politicians to focus on responsible leadership during the international crisis.

“At moments like this, the country needs seriousness, not political games,” he said in a written statement, emphasizing that the government’s priority remains protecting British citizens at home and abroad.

The exchange between Trump and the British government highlights growing diplomatic tensions among Western allies as the conflict in the Middle East continues to unfold.
